Amazing that this is posted here. We will soon have a vote here in Switzerland on whether each spouse should submit their own tax return.
We also live in Switzerland 🇨🇠I'm married but my wife is taking care of kids, so this is not apples to us. But I know a couple her who are not married because of this.

I think the overall effort for all parties is much higher than any benefits.
