I think this is now a simple problem to solve. And problem not only introduction of mobile/touch-screen devices. Also apps. One every app need to support "blue links", or back button. Does opening a popup on a page would add go back history record? and opening a drawer? or two? i think we in an era of a search for better ideals, canons.
